Name the payment arrangement
A university instalment schedule and a lender’s loan are different arrangements. Identify who receives the payments, who provides financing and which agreement you would sign. Ask whether the displayed monthly amount covers the whole programme or only a semester or annual fee.
Use consistent inputs
For a reducing-balance estimate, enter the amount actually financed, annual interest rate and number of monthly payments. Keep upfront fees outside the principal unless the lender explicitly finances them. DegreeBazar’s calculator uses a constant rate with equal month-end payments and no payment holiday.
Account for trade-offs
A lower monthly amount can come from a longer repayment term. Compare total interest, processing charges and any concession that becomes unavailable when financing. A zero-interest example still needs a fee check; this calculator does not approve or recommend a lender.
Ask for the full schedule
Get the due dates, final repayment amount and any early-repayment or late-payment terms from the provider. Check whether the loan and admission cancellation processes are separate. Keep the figures as estimates until the lender gives you an individual written offer.
